Long Last Soft Matte Lipstick | RRP £18.00 *
I’m a huge fan of matte lipsticks, admittedly I don’t own that many mainly because I find them quite drying on the lips making it almost impossible to pull off on a day to day basis. I was recently sent a few lipsticks from Cliniques Soft Matte collection and let me tell you these matte lipsticks are fabulous. The colours are stunning and so perfect for Summer, there are 8 shades to choose from all of which are pretty bright. If your a fan of vivid lips then these are one to try and if you get a little worried about wearing matte formula’s then keep on reading because you will want one of these by the end of your read.
So lets talk formula, as mentioned matte lipsticks can be rather drying on the lips. I have always been one to suffer with sore dry lips especially in the winter time so on most occasions I will avoid the matte lip unless I’m reaching for my all time favourite red Mac Russian Red. The formula of the Clinique lipsticks surprised me, they feel quite moist to apply and really hydrating which was a pleasant surprise and super duper creamy too.
The finish is as the name suggests, ‘matte’ although I wouldn’t say they were true matte I feel like there is a slight sheen to them but I guess that’s the hydrating factor in the lipstick which really helps with the really long lasting power and overall condition of the lips. One swoop of this on the lips gives instant, bold, beautiful lips and let me tell you they are intense the pigment is just incredible and application is such a dream. Matte Petal has definitely become a favourite of mine because it’s a pretty shade to wear for everyday and really suits my complexion, matte peony is a shade I probably won’t wear as often because the shade is quite yellow toned which often makes my teeth look a little yellow and you all know how I feel about that. Matte magenta on the other hand is the perfect shade to make your teeth look brighter and whiter because it is a gorge blue toned pink lipstick, it’s definitely a fab party shade!
Overall a beautiful collection and I can’t wait to see if Clinique bring out further shades for Autumn/Winter, I’d love to see some deep berry tones and even a few more neutral more wearable tones for those who are a little wary of wearing a bolder lip.
