When becoming a new mum the last thing you are going to think about is your makeup but I thought I’d share with you a few of my quick fix makeup tips to help you look and feel more refreshed when you have visitors coming over and to generally make yourself feel a little perkier. Before I had Vinny makeup was one of my main priorities, sounds sad I know but I’d never go anywhere without a full face of makeup and the transition from all to nothing was really quite difficult for me along with sleepless nights and days filled with all things newborn. As the years have gone on I actually prefer myself with minimal makeup and don’t really like wearing a full face of it, I’ve also managed to find a few products and beauty items that work really well for me so let me share with you my quick fix makeup tips as a new mummy.
Priority: First of all you need to prioritise, is there something you can’t leave the house without doing? Maybe it’s your lipstick or a slick of mascara? For me it’s all about the base, I can’t leave the house without a flawless base so this is a part of my routine I spend the most time on and make sure I have the best products that work for my skin at the time. If you have pretty great skin already pop on a tinted moisturiser and crack on the with rest of your face, I usually apply a foundation or a CC cream to make me feel and look a little fresher and I almost always use a concealer. God knows us mummas need a good concealer to disguise those sleepless nights so this is an essential in any sleep deprived ladies beauty routine a couple of my favourites include Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer and Urban Decay Naked Skin Complete Coverage Concealer both really great and work really well under the eye area.
Glow: Remember that pregnancy glow everyone said you had but you didn’t really think you had? Well it’s time to fake it, using a highlighter is really going to brighten up your complexion and make you look more awake and alert. My favourite product to do this is The Balm Mary Loumanizer, I apply this with a fan brush on the tops of my cheek bones, across my cupids bow and slightly down the nose this really makes me look and feel so much better and is one of my favourite parts of my makeup routine.
Keep it simple: When it comes to the eyes keep things simple, curl the lashes to open up the eye area and add a quick coat of mascara to make you look more awake and when it comes to brows don’t worry too much about filling them in as this can usually take quite a while for some of us in the morning and we just want to make sure we look presentable not runway ready. I like to use a brow gel just to set my brows in place and make them look a little tidier my favourite product for this Benefit Gimmie Brow, this product is great because it contains little fibres which adheres to the skin and hair creating fuller looking brows in a matter of seconds.
Go Bold: Finally this is a step you could easily miss but if you really want to look put together and really shift the focus then go for a bold lip, it’s quick and easy to do and will instantly make you look like you’ve made a whole bunch of effort when really you haven’t. If you’re not a fan of a bold lip then try a lip balm or a lip tint, lip tints are a great multi-purpose product because you could also use these as a blush to add a flush to your cheeks and it also won’t budge all day so no need for touch ups, my favourite is Benefit Benetint there are a bunch of different colours to choose from including pretty reds and a gorgeous mango shade so don’t feel limited experiment and go all out!
I hope these tips have helped you if you are a new mum, mum to be or even just need something quick and easy to do in the mornings.
