I’ll admit it, I seem to be quite the lipstick hoarder and collector however I do seem to stick to my same few favourites despite my collection. Being a beauty blogger I find myself constantly stumbling across gorgeous blogs and makeup reviews and then end up writing a list as long as my arm of new things I’d like to try and this lipstick was one of them after seeing it on a lovely FOTD type post, the colour instantly caught my eye and I knew I had to have it.

My mum actually asked for my wish list over Christmas and she kindly bought this lipstick for me to my delight, I will admit I’m not the biggest fan of YSL lipsticks. I have had a couple of the Rouge Volupte lipsticks in the past and we just didn’t get on, the formula was way too creamy for me, it slipped off my lips and also clung to any dry patches which we all know is not cute so I was a little hesitant when putting this lippy on my list but from the pictures and swatches I had seen I could tell it wasn’t going to be the same as the Rouge Volupte range.

The colour I chose in this lipstick is shade 66 Rosewood which is a quite a dusty muave colour, it’s more pink than the shades I have been picking up this winter but I wanted something with a slight berry tone and this is just that.

Upon the first application I knew it would be a shade I would wear time and time again and despite the pretty high price tag I think it was worth the money, firstly can we just take a moment to appreciate the luxurious packaging it’s so chic and would look amazing on any vanity and can you imagine the oohs and ahhs you will get once getting this our of your clutch on an evening out, It’s definitly a show stopper when it comes to looks but how about performance?

The texture is smooth and hydrating which is what I look for in a good lipstick, my lips can get uber dry in the winter months so I need something to help keep my lips looking hydrated throughout the day and this lipstick does just that although I would say staying power is pretty average which doesn’t particularly bother me as I like to freshen up my lipstick throughout the day anyway. I love that you can wear this lipstick slightly more heavy for a deeper shade or just blot it out for more of a subtle barely there nude, it’s the perfect nude for me and I really love it.

Have you bought any YSL lipsticks lately, I’d love to know if you have a favourite shade?

I found it quite hard to find this shade online but I finally tracked it down, you can buy YSL Rouge Pur Couture 66 Rosewood £23.00 here.
