effaclar bb blur review
Want to blur the appearance of pores, blemishes and fine lines with the use of just one product? The La Roche-Posay Effaclar BB Blur is a brand new product that can help you with all of the above, this new product by La Roche-Posay claims to be a new generation skincare hybrid that absorbs oil all day long which sounds pretty fantastic right? I have to admit I was pretty excited to try this product after reading so many rave reviews and hearing so much about it and it also seemed like the perfect base to use on minimal makeup days.
First of all my skin type is combination, I get quite a few dry patches on my nose and chin so although I was pretty excited to try this brand new base I was also a little nervous it would cling to those dry patches with it being aimed at those with oily skin. Thankfully I do moisturise and hydrate my skin well whilst prepping for base products so this didn’t seem to be much of an issue and when I first applied the BB Blur I was actually super impressed, it instantly smoothed out the surface and got rid of any redness on my skin it definitely created the perfect blank canvas and was super quick and easy to apply with the fingers.
bb blur before and after
The texture of Effaclar BB Blur is a mousse and it is quite thick, I also have to mention that a little goes a long way and you don’t need to keep adding extra product because the cover is great too. It really does work well at blurring imperfections and I have really been enjoying using it, I would love to see La Roche-Posay bring out something a little more hydrating for those with dry or combination skin though because even though It’s been working fine on my skin if it’s not prepared properly I can still get a slight flakey look on the dryer areas on my face, on days where my skin is a little dryer I just apply less product to the dry areas and this seems to work fine. As you can see in the before and after photos BB Blur has worked well at minimising my forehead lines and redness on my blemishes and around the nose, it works wonders! (For reference: In the first image of me wearing the product I have also added bronzer and highlighter but no powder was necessary however in the before/afters I am just wearing Effaclar BB Blur)
There are currently two shades to choose from; Fair Light and Light Medium both of which are quite similar once blended out. I use the Fair Light on days when I have no tan on and the Light Medium on days I have tanned my face and they both work well, they seem to just blend into the skin seamlessly and no matter how pale or how tuned I am both shades work well for me however for those that are more porcelain or more tanned it may be a struggle finding the perfect shade.
Overall I’m really enjoying using the Effaclar BB Blur, it’s been working perfectly on my ‘No makeup’ days by shortening my routine due to the fact that I no longer need to powder due to the velvet matte finish and it also lasts really well throughout the day. If you are looking for a new quick base product to try and you have oily/combination skin I’d highly recommend giving this a whirl, it leaves the skin looking radiant and smooth.
Have you spotted this new product by La Roche-Posay and is it something you’d like to try?
