At-Home Manicure Routine

sally hansen nail polishes
I love, love, love having my nails done. Having two little ones to look after means I have a lot less ‘me’ time these days. Trips to the salon are long gone and At-Home Pamper routines are so in! I mean I can’t even remember the last time I went to have my brows waxed let alone my nails done. I do love to have pretty nails though and have been making more of an effort to add a nail treatment into my pamper routine. I have built up quite a collection of nail products and tools over the years. I used to be really into creating fancy designs and all that jazz so let me talk you through my routine and what products I’m currently enjoying.

Let’s start by talking about the boring bits, the removal sitch. Taking my nail varnish off is the worst part of my nail routine. It used to take me so long however I have found some great products to help me out which makes life a lot easier these days. I use the Primark Nail Varnish Remover. This little pot is fab because you just pop your nail in for a few seconds, twist, let them soak and hey presto they are clean and ready for a new coat of polish! I have used the Bourjois version of this in the past which I actually prefer because it has a really nice scent and the sponge is a little rougher making it easier to remover tougher polishes and glitters but for £1 on this Primark dupe you can’t really complain.

I don’t spend an awful lot of time on this to be honest. My nails are already quite oval/square so I just leave them as they are. If there are any jagged or sharp edges I will run the file over them super quick and that’s about it really. I then like to push my cuticles back because this is a crucial part when creating the perfect manicure and ensuring it all lasts longer. Finally I add a coat of the Sally Hansen Maximum Strength nail polish to ensure my nails are nice and strong. Since having the boys they’ve become very weak so this really helps to strengthen them and it dries so quick too which is fab!

Finally my favourite part, the nail polish! This summer I’ve been all about the nudes and pastel colours. I’m quite partial to a metallic shade too as it looks amazing with a tan! I’ve been trying out a few polishes by Sally Hansen which is actually a brand I’ve never tried… gulp. I know you probably think I’m mad, and even I think that now because wow what gorgeous shades and fabulous polishes.

sally hansenI’ve been using the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure polishes which are ideal for our DIY manicures. Why do I love them so much? Well these Sally Hansen Polishes actually have 7 amazing benefits including these amazing features; a base coat, growth treatment, runway-inspired color, top coat, gel-shine finish, chip-resistance, and a strengthener with keratin complex to aid stronger nails. If that isn’t good enough for you then I know the 10 days of chip-resistant wear will be! As a mum running around after boys, contastly doing the dishes and being rather heavy handed I’ve been on the look out for a polish that can keep up with me and these really do!

Finally when my nails are all done I make sure I don’t forget about my hands, I like to use a hand moisturiser on a daily basis just to keep them well moisturised. This also helps keep my cuticles nourished and it keeps my hands super soft. Mark always compliments me on how soft my hands and feet are that’s because I always moisturise them. My current favourite hand cream is the Roger & Gallet Sublime Hand and Nail cream. This smells absolutely divine and it’s really nourishing, it has organ oil and evening primrose oil too which I love.
