Skincare in 3 Easy Steps

3 step skincare routine bare mineralsSkincare is something I have been quite lazy with in the past. Back in my teen years I would leave my makeup on when I went to bed and would quickly swipe it away with a makeup wipe in the morning. Gross right?! During the past 8 years I have stepped things up in the skincare department. I now take my makeup off daily, cleanse and moisturise, hoorah. My skin is relatively clear these days apart from the odd hormonal break out and I’m so happy I finally feel good without makeup on.

When I was a teen, due to the lack of a proper skincare routine my skin would break out a lot and was never that great. It’s so important to have a good routine in place and over the years I have found quick and easy steps to take that not only take next to no time but also leaves my skin feeling wonderful. Today I wanted to share with you my evening skincare routine using a few of my favourite new products by bareMinerals. This can be done in three steps but I do occasionally knock it down to just two so keep on reading if you would like to hear more.

I like to remove the bulk of my makeup using a facial wipe just to ensure that when I cleanse I’m really getting in there and cleaning all of the dirt away. You can double cleanse if you prefer but for time sake I just like to grab a wipe first, my favourites are the NIVEA Creme Care Facial Cleansing Wipes and when I really want to treat myself the Clinique Take The Day off Face and Eye Cleansing Towelettes  (full review here).

The cleanser I’m currently using is the bareMinerals Pure Plush Gentle Deep Cleansing Foam, I apply this using the Skinsorials™ Double Cleansing Brush it’s fantastic. I usually prefer a cleansing oil but I love how this feels on my skin, it lathers beautifully and is very creamy. A little product goes a long way. When I first tried the cleansing foam I did break out the next day, I used it with the brush so I thought it may have been my fault because I was really working the brush over the areas that were dry to exfoliate slightly which brought a few spots to the surface. I have continued to use them both despite my little breakout and I haven’t had any big breakouts since, just clean fresh skin. Yay!

I like to exfoliate 2-3 times a week because I have rather dry skin on my nose and chin area that simply won’t budge. I’ve introduced exfoliating into my routine because of this and it’s improved massively. I do have rather sensitive skin though and found many exfoliators rather harsh in the past but these Mix. Exfoliate. Smooth Skin Polishing Grains have worked a treat.

I love that you can control how much you’d like to use and I just mix this in with my cleanser 2-3 evenings a week, sometimes I will use a tiny amount for a quick polish and other nights I will use a little more for deeper exfoliation. I’m obsessed with this product and love that you can use it with any favourite cleanser. There is a real cocktail of ingredients including Chardonnay, Rose, Sweet Orange Peel and Black Rice grains, plus mineral-rich Sea Salts that gently refine texture, encourage cell turnover and help renew skin’s vibrancy. Amazing.

Final step day and night is to moisturise. This is another thing I didn’t do as a teen, what on earth was I thinking! My makeup applies much better when my skin is fully moisturised, it also looks and feels so much better. I’ve been using the bareMinerals Smart Combination Smoothing Lightweight Emulsion. Can we just take a moment to appreciate the beautiful simplistic packaging with rose gold detailing, so pretty!

This emulsion feels incredibly lightweight on the skin, it almost feels like you’re not wearing anything but your skin still feels smooth and soft. There are a blend of peptides, ceramides and amino acids to help smooth rough texture, which really improves and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. I’d recommend this if you like your skin to feel naturally soft, without the weight of a heavy moisturiser.

So that is my current evening routine, I must admit in the mornings I’m a little lazier but this is what works for me and in just 2-3 steps which is amazing!

Have you tried the new bareMinerals Skinsorials range? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
