Renzo is 6 months old on Friday and about to move into his own bedroom, for the past 6 months he has been sleeping in our room in his SnuzPod (review here). Sadly he has very little room left in his SnuzPod so it’s time to make the transition to his cot and move him in to his room. I’m actually a little sad for him to leave my side in the night, I have absolutely loved having him beside me in his Snuz, I’d highly recommend the SnuzPod if you are thinking of getting one we’ve got so much use out of it!
Now let’s talk about his bedroom, Renzo gets the ‘box’ room or the third bedroom shall we say so it’s the smallest of them all meaning I had to be quite clever with storage and furniture. Although we have quite alot of furniture in this room it all works so well. We’ve stuck with a white theme, you all know I love white and I like to keep things fresh and bright. This also helps when you have a small room to make it feel big and spacious.
The first thing I bought for this room was the IKEA Malm Chest of 6 drawers in white, I wasn’t sure if we were going to fit in a wardrobe in this room hence the reason I bought this. It stores alot of stuff including extra bedding, toiletries for Renzo and other bits and bobs. I really like Malm furniture and although everyone seems to have it I think it just looks very classic, clean and modern which I love.
Now onto the main furniture in his room, his cot and wardrobe. I’m so in love with this set from Silver Cross it’s called the Soho Cot Bed and Wardrobe Combo Unit Set. The collection has been created for those with smaller nurseries in mind which is of course perfect for us, It’s been cleverly designed to save space, with no compromise on storage.
The wardrobe has a changing station which is very cleverly hidden in the design, we no longer use the changing station as Renzo is a bit big but it was perfect when he was smaller and it’s so easy to use. Now that I have the changing station folded away I have some cute bear crochet baskets on top of it which are from Next, they are really fab for storing toys small blankets. I love the way the wardrobe is laid out also, when we bought Vinny a wardrobe with his old nursery furniture there was literally one rail in it and that was it. In the Soho wardrobe you get gorgeous soft close drawers, two hanging rails and handy accessory compartments. It’s pretty fab!
The Soho cot bed is stylish and contemporary with clean lines and a white woodgrain finish. The full-size cot bed has 3 adjustable heights which means that it’s going to grow with Renzo, it also transforms into a toddler bed and should be suitable for up to 4 years. Renzo has the Comfort Plus Care Cot Mattress which you can buy separately and although he hasn’t slept in it properly yet, he has had day naps in it and seems very comfortable.
The bedding is also from Silver Cross and it’s called the Zoobaloo bedding range. We have gone for a slight animal theme in Renzos room so we thought this would be perfect, it’s got some accents of bright primary colours but the main set is white and I just adore. It’s contemporary, fun and features premium 3D appliques, fun taggy manes and beautiful embellishments to make bedtime fun. The hangers in the pictures above are from Vertbaudet, I think they are a fab decorative pieces that are also very useful!
Finally onto some finishing touches in the room, you may remember me posting about the Desenio pictures (post here). I really love how these came out, I opted for rose gold frames and animal inspired prints which look really fab. I then got a few other bits to keep on his MALM dresser, some fab Metal Giraffe Sculptures from Next, some wooden monochrome blocks to spell out his name and a fab Rose Gold Dino Night Light which was actually made for me by one of my talented friends Erica, she has an Etsy shop if you’d like to see more of her designs including more Ball mason jars, reclaimed wood home decor & succulents.
Onto the floor, I actually moved the white faux fur rug from Vertbaudet that was in Vinnys room because I thought it looked better in here. As the room is quite small there wasn’t much room for a chair so instead I put this Zig Zag Drum seat down with a fluffy rug on top of it for story time and chill out time in his room. I love the drum I think it is the perfect splash of colour without going crazy, it’s rather big too and I can sit on it nice and comfortably. I also have some grey storage boxes which I put under Renzos bed, these are from Vertbaudet and they are perfect for storing away old clothes, and blankets. For those wondering Renzo is wearing an outfit from Joules.
If you’d like to see more of Renzos room you can watch the Room Tour video I created below, I hope you enjoy it!
Is your child in the ‘box room’ too? I’d love to know how you’ve made it the perfect space for him or her.
