Tips To Stay Energised During Shorter Winter Days

winter During the winter months it can be super difficult to be energised, motivated and awake. I often find myself wanting to stay in bed longer, do less and move less so today I’m going to talk you through a few simply tips and tricks I’m doing to stay super energised in the shorter winter days. Let’s get started.

It’s cold and flu season so to make sure you are feeling your absolute best make sure you are getting enough sleep. Now I know this can be rather difficult for those with children but do try, even if it means going to be an hour earlier. I really notice a change in my mood if I’ve not had a great sleep, sometimes it can’t be helped but the nights where I’ve made a little more effort; a night time routine and a dark relaxing room makes all the difference.

[df_divider_text title=”Plenty of Iron” title_align=”separator_align_center” el_width=”100″ style=”solid” accent_color=”#EEEEEE” padding=”20px 0″ position=”align_center” el_class=”” border_t_width=”2px”]

A good intake of iron is necessary for energy, intellectual performance and vitality. One thing I was always lacking whilst pregnant with the boys was Iron. My levels were always so low and I was prescribed tablets all the time but me being rather lazy meant I didn’t take them as much as I should have resulting in my Iron levels staying pretty low. I do have a history of being anaemic and it’s really horrid, constantly tired, never any energy and often dizzy.

I really dislike taking tablets so I’m usually pretty reluctant to take them even though I know they will make me feel better however when I was in Boots a little while back I came across a liquid iron supplement called Floradix which you can also purchase from Salus, as soon as I saw there was a liquid version I popped it straight into my basket! It’s so much easier to take and nicer too because it contains selected herbs and several fruit juice concentrates. Floradix is easy to take and helps safeguard the balance of iron and vitamins B1, B2, B6, B12 and C. What I really love is that all of these nutrients are absorbed more quickly due to already being dissolved compared to tablets meaning it works super fast. It also contains no alcohol, preservatives, colourings or artificial flavourings. It is lactose free and suitable for vegetarians too. Fabulous!

I’m not going to lie, I have actually been on more walks this Autumn than I did most of the Summer…. That I’m rather embarrassed about however there is just something about the cold air on my face, the comfy layers of knitwear keeping me cosy and the pretty surroundings that just makes me want to get out and clear my mind. It’s something I love to do after a busy day working, or in the morning just to give me a wonderful fresh start.

Yep, I said it. Fill up that diary, get out and socialise! If I’ve been out in the morning, to see friends or walked around town I come home feeling so much more refreshed and energised. By this point I’m ready to tackle the rest of the day and all of the jobs included, in my case blogging. Being a blogger and working for myself can often leave me feeling demotivated and a little tired sometimes, I lack energy and just feel like I need that extra boost some days. I think just getting dressed and getting out can really make a difference in your day!

So there you have it, a few simple tips to help you feel more energised. What do you do in the darker winter months to give you a spring in your step?
