may favourites May, where on earth did you go?! It’s been a busy month, however June is going to be our busiest for sure. Yep that’s right, it’s MOVING month! I can’t believe in just a few short weeks we will be moving into our new family home. We have so much work to do, I went into a little more detail about that in The Home Edit. But today I want to talk beauty favs, I have fallen in love with a few products this month and instead of sharing them on my YouTube channel I thought I’d do an old school favourites post here on the blog. Let’s get started!

may favourites My main focus this month has been my skin and base so today we are going to be talking about all the products that have been giving my skin some LIFE. I want to start with an illuminator I rediscovered this month. I had been in a bit of a rut using the same highlighters over and over again.

I wanted to try something I hadn’t used for a while and I found this Anastasia Beverly Hills Illuminator in So Hollywood at the back of my Malm Dressing Table. I quickly gave it a swirl and applied it to my cheeks and it gave me the most beautiful glow that lasted all day. I haven’t stopped using it since. Honestly this is such a beautiful illuminator, it’s very finely milled. It doesn’t look chunky at all on the skin, you know how some highlighters have chunky glitters and it just doesn’t look natural or cute. Well this doesn’t have that, it just illuminates and makes you look lit from within with that extra pop of glow if you know what I mean. Love!

Sticking with the base products I have been loving the new Benefit Quickie Contour stick. This is a new launch from Benefit and it’s quickly becoming one of my favourite ways to contour. It really is so quick to use. You simply swipe this directly onto any areas you wish to contour, for me this is pretty much everywhere then you blend it out with a damp beauty sponge or buffing brush. It buffs out so effortlessly and takes seconds, I like to use this on minimal makeup days over a tinted moisturiser or on full makeup days when I want extra glam. It’s a buildable product and is quite a warm shade so it really adds that extra bronzed glow to your skin too. Very pretty.

Now when I have been wanting to for more of a full coverage look I’ve been opting for the High Definition Beauty foundation. You may know this brand as HD Brows but they have really grown their range recently and they offer a number of makeup products now too. The foundation was a recent discovery of mine and I have been loving it.

It’s full cover which I didn’t actually have many of in my current foundation collection. I went for the shade Buff, there weren’t many swatches online so I did guess but it’s the perfect match. It is quite a thick formula so it does take a little more effort to buff into the skin but you don’t need a lot of product at all. I usually use one pump and my whole face is done which is amazing. I do need to powder throughout the day as it makes my skin a little oily after a few hours however I love the finish and I’ve been using it none stop! You can see me using it in this video here.

skincare Let’s move onto skincare. I’ve had quite a few breakouts this month. You know those hormonal breakouts that seem to last forever?! I’ve also been suffering with a few dry spots on my chin and nose area so I’ve been using all the products to keep my skin well hydrated and plump. This month I started using the new L’Oreal Hydra Genius Aloe Water, this is basically a liquid moisturiser. It feels quite serum like and I’ve been using this as my daily moisturiser for a couple of weeks now. With it being a liquid formula it penetrates the skin much quicker meaning it gets straight to work.

I’ve noticed my skin is well hydrated all day and it’s also been a great base for makeup. There is no greasy residue or sticky feeling left on the skin, my skin is just left feeling fresh and hydrated. The Hydra Genius Aloe Water comes in a 70ml glass bottle with a pump dispenser, and it’s available in three different variants: for normal to combination skin, for normal to dry skin, and for sensitive skin. Really lovely and super affordable!

vichy favourites The final favourite is something I’ve been using to help with the texture and the overall appearance of my skin. I was complaining a few weeks back about how dull my skin was looking and the lovely PR from Vichy got in touch to introduce me to their latest Vichy launch, Idealia Peeling. I’ve been using it ever since. First of all, I adore the Idealia range, I adore the scent. The products have always worked wonders on my skin and this hasn’t disappointed me.

Idealia Peeling is Vichys first night peeling care treatment. It’s been designed for young women living fast-paced lives, often burning the candle at both ends! Sounds like me!  It’s a unique water-light formula with the power of a serum to refine pores, improve skin texture and smooth fine lines. I do have quite sensitive skin so I did worry that it would be too harsh but it’s actually very gentle and has improved the look of my skin massively. If you’ve been looking for a glycolic acid product for exfoliation and radiance, then this could be for you too.

swatches Here are swatches of the makeup products mentioned today, I always find it helpful when I see swatches online.
