My health is not something I discuss often on the blog but if you follow me on social media then you may be aware that I have Inflammatory arthritis. This is something that affects me on a daily basis, and during the winter I suffer the most. I actually met with my consultant the other day, the first time since having Renzo and although my joints are still pretty bad he was quite reluctant to give me any medication. I don’t really like taking medication either unless it’s really needed so instead I’m going to make some lifestyle changes to help with the pain and my general wellbeing.
I’ve had a real lack of energy recently because of bad food choices, mainly over the Christmas period and also a huge lack of exercise. I’ve never really been that into exercise however I’m going to take some small steps to make myself feel better, I’ve always wondered how to get more energy and since making these small changes I’ve felt so much better. Firstly I’m making more positive food choices, I’m so over dieting now and I’m doing my best to re-educate myself when it comes to food and healthy choices.
Food, this is something I have had an issue with for a while. I’ve dieted for most of my adult life and I’ve made the decision to stop that. It’s time to make better food choices and fuel my body with all of the good stuff. Including at snack time, I made myself some peanut butter protein balls today and my gosh they were delicious. The perfect post-workout snack….. OK it was a 7 minute workout but baby steps right?
I recently received a wellness package from Boots and within that was Turmeric. I had never tried this before but after some research I discovered that Turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties and modifies immune system responses. If there is anything out there that I can take to help with my joint pain and to help prevent any further flare ups then I’m going to take it, this seems like the perfect supplement for me. I’ll let you know how I get on.
We’ve spoken about food, and also about my arthritis but something else I wish to do to improve my general wellbeing is of course have a pamper. I always feel better after I’ve had a pamper session, I feel more relaxed. I sleep better and I just feel much happier in general. So good sleep, and pampering is essential.
