Hello lovelies, I hope you’re all well? It’s been such a long time since I spoke beauty on the blog and so I thought I’d bring it back with an oldie but a goodie “What’s in my makeup bag”. I get so many questions on Instagram and YouTube about my favourite makeup products, so today I’m going to talk you through a few of my absolute must haves. These are products I’ve been using for months now, some of them years actually and they are staples in my makeup routine.
I’m going to start with moisturiser, this is a step I have to do when applying makeup. Actually its just a daily thing for me whether I’m having a makeup free day or not. My current favourite is the Olay Total Effects Anti-Ageing 7in1 Day Moisturiser With SPF 15 50. I’m actually an Olay Ambassador this year which is very exciting and a part of that role is to try out their products which I’ve been doing for the past few months.
I’ve actually used Olay for years so it’s not a shock to me that I love this moisturiser. I’m going to be 30 next year so I’m really stepping up my Anti-Aging game and using products that suit my skin properly. I have had botox in the past but I’m currently pregnant and I’m really noticing the lines at the moment so I’m using the 7in1 moisturiser to minimise and hydrate my skin. I’m all about preventing those lines and this product is doing a fab job of that, it’s lightweight and makes a fab base for my foundation.
My top three makeup products are:
- Nip & Fab Foundation RRP £12.95 (click to shop)
- Benefit Hoola Bronzer RRP £24.50 (click to shop)
- Benefit BADgal BANG Mascara RRP £21.50 (click to shop)
So I thought I’d give you the low down on my absolute favourites. The other products I have I do use daily but I do sometimes use alternatives too but these three products I’ve been sticking with for quite a while now and if there’s anything you NEED to buy its these. First of all the Nip & Fab foundation, this is lovely. It lasts really well and if you like yellow toned foundations then this is for you. I often use self tan on my face so I need something yellow toned and this really is fab. The formula is great, not too thick, not too runny and it’s got good coverage too. I use the shade 20 and it’s a medium to full coverage and a nice radiant finish. I do use powder to set my foundation which gives me a matt finish and the powder I’m currently using is by Nars pressed powder in the shade beach.
For bronzer I use Benefit Hoola, this is such a classic and a bronzer that I come back to all the time. It’s super pigmented so you don’t need a lot at all. It’s also the perfect shade to just add warmth and contour at the same time because it’s matte, I don’t know how but it does it all. They also do a light shade for fair skin tones which is great.
My third favourite is Benefit BADgal BANG. Honestly I can’t use anything else, this mascara gives me lashes! It creates a huge amount of volume without weighing my lashes down. The wand is fabulous, slimline and it makes it so easy to cover every lash. And basically it’s just the bomb, it’s super black and is very quick to apply. No clumpy lashes, just full and voluminous! Oh and I also love Brow Zings for my brows, I actually love all of the Benefit Brow range and alternate between Gimme Brow, Brow Zings and Precisely My Brow.
So I’ve spoken about Benefit a lot, but another brand I love is Pixi. I use their Black Liner Duo, which is a great liner. I only use the liquid/pen type liner but I get asked about it all the time. It’s very easy to use, but as it’s running out now the ink has definitely got less pigmented. I find that if I press the nib onto my hand the ink get’s a little boost and works much better which is a little tip for you if you’re using it too.
The eyeshadows and highlighters are also fab by Pixi, I’m using the Gossamer Duo in ‘Delicate Dew’ at the moment and it’s amazing. I love that you get two shades, I usually blend them together to be honest but they are so pigmented and really give that gorgeous glow to the skin.
Finally in my makeup bag I have a travel eyeshadow palette by Zoeva, I actually have a few of their travel palettes and I love the size. They have a great selection, this one I love because it has a bunch of warm tones and I’m all about that. I also use Iconic London brushes, they are so soft and luxurious. I pop a perfume in my makeup bag always, this one FlowerBomb by Viktor&Rolf.
Oh and lipstick is my all time favourite, Velvet Teddy by Mac! I had stopped wearing this for a while but then I found it in my bag and I’ve fallen back in love with it. It’s such a gorgeous wearable shade.
I hope you enjoyed seeing what’s in my makeup bag, I’d love to hear about your essentials. What’s one product you can’t live without? Let me know!
