Stila is a brand I have never tried before nor seemed too fussed about, until now. Why you ask? Well first of all how gorgeous is the packaging of this beautiful magnificent metals foil finish eyeshadow? Firtstly as the name suggests this is a metal foil finish eyeshadow the combination was inspired by the runway and it’s definitely a show stopping shadow. The cream to powder texture means you can build up an array of looks from sheer to pure metal and I have to say I have been loving it! The kit consists of the metal eyeshadow, a mixing tray and the stay all day liquid eyeshadow primer.
The texture is rather odd, although it’s a powder it is rather crumbly and the metallic pieces are quite chunky although once mixed with the shadow primer that changes and it transforms into a smooth creamy liquid that can be as thick or as thin as you want in consistency. I find it works best when I follow the directions of adding two drops of the primer into the fabulous mixing tray then add a small dab of metal into the tray and swirl, make sure you don’t add too much primer because it can go too thin and then apply quite streaky onto the lid, it is also key you only apply this with your finger using a brush won’t end up with good results. You can also add extra layers to really intensify the metallic finish but be careful not to make the application too thick to avoid creasing.
I think this is the perfect shadow to really dramatise a look for any night out, full of shine and might I add glitter… the glitter does like to linger… everywhere but don’t worry the particles are tiny and I think add to that full on look. I adore popping this onto the lid then applying another bright gold shadow on top to change up the look (I used this method for the eye look in this video), I also love to just pop this on the tear duct area or lower lash line for added shine. Overall a really cool product, not something I’d wear everyday and the price tag is pretty hefty so one to save for special occasions but such a beauty when it does come out to make an appearance.
Have you tried any of these Metal Foil Finish Eyeshadows? I’d love to know your thoughts.
