Food // Nutella Mug Cake

Having a new kitchen means that I can now start baking and cooking, that being said I’m not the best cook and that probably because I didn’t do too much when I was younger because my mum always insisted on making everything (Probably the Italian in her). I really want to make sure that I bake and cook more with Vinny and create some lovely food traditions so I’m breaking myself in gently and starting with very simple recipes. I have been searching Pinterest for yummy and quick things to make, as you may know toddlers don’t have the longest attention span so I wanted to make sure it wouldn’t take too long and would taste delicious so we have made… The Nutella Mug Cake! I do plan to start using my new Induction hob and oven soon and I’m going to start cooking properly, but for todays delicious treat we are using the microwave this would be a perfect Mothers Day morning naughty breakfast treat… Enjoy!

Flour- 4 tablespoon

Self Raising Flour- 1 tablespoon

Sugar- 2 tablespoon

Cocoa Powder- 2 tablespoon

Milk- 4 tablespoon

Oil- 2 tablespoon

Vanilla Extract- 1/2 tablespoon

Chocolate Chips

Nutella- 2 tablespoon

Squirty Cream

Chocolate shavings

First of all we popped all of the flour, sugar, and cocoa powder into a bowl and mixed it together I used self raising flour as I didn’t have any baking powder and it worked perfectly well. Once that was mixed we then used another bowl to mix the milk, oil, Nutella and vanilla extract and when that was fully mixed we put this back into the original bowl and added chocolate chips and mixed everything together.

Mixture done we poured it all into a mug and added some extra chocolate chips on top, then popped it in the microwave for 2 minutes and 30 seconds and left to stand for another 2 minutes. Finally we added some squirty cream and chocolate shavings, I have to say this was the quickest and most delicious little creation, and can you believe we made it in the microwave! I plan to start getting a little more adventurous now and want to start cooking properly so if you have any suggestions for simple yet yummy meals and desserts then please link them below!

Have you tried any mug cake recipes before?
