Clinique Chubby in the Nude Foundation Review

I’m all about products that are quick and easy to use and these new chubby sticks by Clinique have got to be the easiest base products I’ve used in a while. Clinique has a whole chubby stick family beginning with the original chubby stick for lips which then moved onto cheeks, highlighting and contour sticks and we now have Chubby in the nude foundation stick. It was only a matter of time before they brought out a foundation stick and to be honest it was a product I wasn’t sure I would like. I’m more of a liquid foundation kind of girl after using stick foundations as a teen and remembering the product looking very dry and cakey it was enough to put me off for life but after trying these I have changed my mind, these are a real game changer!

Initial thoughts

Chubby in the nude comes in 10 shades and can be used for spot concealing or full-faced coverage, the latter being what I like to use it for. I have the shades 06 intense ivory and 07 capacious chamois, both of which are quite similar with the only difference being that one shade is slightly darker, they have a slight pink undertone to them and once blended into the skin they seem to just blend in with my skin and merge to the perfect shade. I think for when I have more of a tan 08 Golden neutral would be a perfect colour as it’s slightly more yellow toned so it’s definitely something I’m going to pick up for the Summer months. When I first applied I was pleasantly surprised by its smooth and creamy texture, for someone with combination skin I have to be quite careful when applying products directly to my face especially around the nose and chin area where foundation tends to cling. Luckily because of the formula and the combination of moisturising ingredients and Vitamin E it is so lightweight it glides straight over the areas, it allows me to build up the coverage I need without emphasising my dry patches. Coverage is light to medium and looks very natural making it perfect for daily use and for those great skin days where you just want to even out the skin tone and perfect, it gives a really lovely dewy yet velvety finish that looks very natural and healthy.

To apply I’ve been drawing several strokes on my cheeks, forehead, nose and chin area then buffing it in with the Clinique Buff Brush. I’d highly recommend this brush as it works really well with the product blending it seamlessly into the skin without leaving any dragging marks or taking too much product away. The brush really creates a super smooth even canvas and it can also be used with liquid, powder and cream foundations too.

Final thoughts

I’d recommend this foundation if you are after something that’s portable, ideal for touch ups on the go and love natural looking skin. It’s something I’ve been reaching for daily since I received it from Clinique and I’ve really enjoyed using it, it’s going to come in very handy when baby number two arrives because it’s really cut my foundation application time in half and has done a great job at giving my skin a healthy appearance.

Clinique Chubby in the Nude Foundation Stick (£23.00) and Clinique Buff Brush (£23.00) will both be available on April 1st online and on counters nationwide from 15th April 2016.
