My First Jo Malone Fragrance || Basil and Neroli Cologne

jo malone basil and neroli jo malone basil and neroliI used to be such a fragrance hoarder, about 7 years ago I actually worked in a Perfume shop so I was always one of the first to know about new launches and exciting new fragrances. That being said these past few years I have stuck to my favourites and not really ventured out to try anything new, until now. I finally have my very first Jo Malone fragrance and I just had to mark this moment with a blog post for you all.

jo malone basil and neroliThe fragrance I’m going to talk to you about today is the brand new Basil and Neroli Cologne, and what a special fragrance to start off my Jo Malone collection. I just adore the sleek iconic packaging, I have the 30ml which is priced at £43 and it’s the perfect size to take everywhere with me! This scent is “A fresh, sophisticated, sensual floral with green facets – Stunning in its simplicity.” Described by Master Perfumer Anne Flipo.

Let’s talk about the type of fragrances I tend to wear. I usually go for rather sweet fragrances in the Summer and then Autumn/Winter time I like to switch things up with something a little heavier, a little more musky and this fragrance is the perfect transitional piece to my perfume puzzle. The Basil & Neroli Cologne was inspired by London, it’s vibrant spirit, the botanical gardens and leafy squares hidden within the urban spaces. There is a top note of Basil, a heart note of Neroli and a base note of Musk. Whilst researching Jo Malone I actually found out that this is the first time in over 20 years that the brand has used Basil as a lead note in their fragrance, the last time being in their very popular Lime, Basil and Mandarin scent so this is a very special moment.

jo malone basil and neroliThe fragrance itself is beautiful it’s warm and inviting. It has a light citrus freshness to it with a hint of musky floral which is the perfect blend with the Basil top note. Neroli, the heart note is an essential oil produced from the blossom of the bitter orange tree. Its scent is sweet, honeyed and somewhat metallic with green and spicy facets. A very warm but fresh fragrance, a little goes a long way and I can see it lasting me quite some time. I’m so happy with first Jo Malone fragrance, Say hello to my new Winter scent.

Do you have a fragrance by Jo Malone? I’d love to know what it is and why you love it!
